The original site has nothing to say about this puzzle, as it wasn't invented when the site was done. So everything from here on is from me, along with bits and pieces from others that I've picked up along the way. It's assumed you can solve a 3x3x3 rubiks cube using the ultimate solution.
On the Skewb Ultimate, there are two types of pieces: the large pieces with four colours and the small pieces with three colours. When we solve this puzzle, we'll treat the large pieces as edges, four of the small pieces as centers, and four of the small pieces as corners.
The Basic Plot
- Solve edges and centers
- Solve corners
Step 1: Solve Edges and Centers
The edges and centers are solved as follows:
- Solve one face with simple twists.
- Solve two adjacent corners to this face so that a whole side, apart from one edge piece, is solved.
- Solve the remaining edge piece on this side.
- Solve the 3 remaining edge pieces on the top face.

Step 2: Solve Corners
The outer corners can be cycled home without disturbing any other pieces by doing an edge piece series three times. By holding the puzzle pointing upwards, with a face (not an edge) in front, we can swap the corners FLD with FRD and also swap the Up corner with the one at DB. This video will explain.
Most of the time, you'll end up with 3 or 4 corners to solve. By applying the triple edge piece series, you'll either solve them all or else get to the position of having two corners to solve.
When you have two corners left, do the same thing to solve them.
